Caracal is a digital course evalution system of Utrecht University; specifically designed to perfectly fit the already existing evaluation processes.
The original application is developed in C# using EF and SQL Service Broker for asynchronous message processing. The application was hosted on the local IT infrastructure.
Bloklab helped the University to succesfully migrate the application to the Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The Azure environment enables the University to rollout new features with zero downtime. By rewriting and modularizing core components the system is able to scale and operate in a robust way.
Project DIFA stands for digital form acquisition. This in-house project is started to develop a low level system to process paper forms.
The goal of this project is to support the processing of paper forms by only using commodity hardware, think cell phone cameras and office scanners.
